Mr Ellis Downes has been a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1999. After spending 11 years as an NHS Consultant at Chase Farm Hospital in North London, he transitioned to full-time independent private practice. His key areas of interest include Endoscopic Surgery, Urinary Incontinence, and Endometrial Ablation.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Leicester in July 1989, became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in November 1994, and was awarded Fellowship in 2008.
Mr Downes is married to Louise and they have two children, George and Lily. Outside of medicine, he enjoys boating and attempting to improve his golf game.

Mr Tomasz Lukaszewski is a senior consultant in reproductive medicine at one of the leading IVF clinics, IVI London. With over 15 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, he has worked in both private and NHS settings. His extensive professional background includes international experience in the UK at the Royal London Hospital and later at the University College London Hospital. Additionally, he has worked in Poland at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology University Hospital.
During his time at the University College London Hospital, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Minimal Access Surgery. While at the Royal London Hospital, Mr Lukaszewski made significant contributions to the Endometriosis Centre and Chronic Pelvic Pain Clinic. He offers a full range of fertility investigations and treatments. He is an expert in fertility preservation in the form of egg, sperm, or embryo freezing. Dr Ora Jesner is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Whipps Cross Hospital. She completed her undergraduate training at Cambridge University and her clinical training at University College London. Dr Jesner’s specialist training was in the North Central and East London deanery and she completed a post graduate certificate in medical ultrasound from King’s College London.
Her main interests are scanning in early pregnancy and gynaecology, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and vulval disease. She is the lead for the Emergency Gynaecology Unit and also clinical lead for Governance in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Whipps Cross Hospital. Dr Jesner is passionate about teaching and training. She was responsible for the medical student teaching programme at Whipps Cross Hospital and currently is the Clinical Educator for junior doctors in her department. She developed a programme for training community based advisors on women’s health within faith communities. Dr. Alisha Esmail graduated with a Distinction in Medicine and Surgery from Imperial College London in 2016, having also completed an intercalated Bachelor’s degree in Reproductive Sciences (2014).

Priyanka has a real interest in improving women’s health. She is a trustee of a small Cambridge-based charity, Rama Foundation. Miss Avni Batish is a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician and clinical lead (obstetrics) at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, having completing her specialist training from London Deanery in 2016.
Miss Batish has completed advanced training skills module (RCOG) in colposcopy, with BSCCP accreditation, and benign gynaecological surgery (outpatient hysteroscopy) and advanced labour ward practice.
Miss Batish has interest in abnormal smear management, fibroid management, endometriosis and abnormal uterine bleeding, PCOS, suspected female genital tract malignancies and chronic pelvic pain. Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Miss Batish enjoys yoga and spending time with her family.
Dr Mehrnoosh (Mez) Aref-Adib is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Whipps Cross Hospital (Barts Health) in London. Having qualified from Cambridge and UCL medical Universities she undertook specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North Central London. She spent 1 year undertaking a minimal access fellowship in Melbourne, Australia in 2017. As part of her fellowship she obtained certification in hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. She has a broad experience in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has worked in busy east and north London hospitals.

Miss Sapna Shah is Consultant Gynaecologist who practices privately and within the NHS at The Royal Free London (Barnet & Chase Farm site), where is also Colposcopy lead.
Miss Shah’s qualified as a Consultant Gynaecologist in 1999 from Royal Free Medical School and completed a PhD in HPV and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in immunocompromised women. Edel is the Lead Sonographer at London Gynaecology, working across both our Harley Street and Austin Friars clinics. With extensive experience in abdominal, urinary tract, obstetrics, and gynaecological ultrasound, Edel has a particular passion for early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology scans.
Edel joined London Gynaecology from Southend University Hospital (NHS Trust), where she held the position of Deputy Ultrasound Manager. Originally from Ireland, she moved to the UK in 2011 to pursue her BsC (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging at the University of Hertfordshire. In 2017, she specialized further with a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from City University London.
Her career has included roles as a diagnostic radiographer in A&E and CT scanning, as well as providing community ultrasound services across Essex GP surgeries. This breadth of experience enables Edel to provide expert and compassionate care to all her patients.
Edel is deeply committed to ensuring patients feel comfortable and supported during their appointments, combining her technical expertise with a warm, empathetic approach.
In her free time, Edel enjoys traveling, dining out, shopping, and spending time outdoors walking her dog, Rufus.

Daniela is a dedicated sonographer specialized in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound at Watford General Hospital, where she leads the Early Pregnancy Unit.
She began her career in Romania, earning her nursing qualifications in 1988, with a particular focus on women’s health. In 2003, Daniela relocated to England to further her expertise in Women’s Health by completing a degree at King’s College London.
Driven by her passion for the field, she obtained a Certificate in Medical Ultrasound for Early Pregnancy and Gynaecological Ultrasound in 2013. Seeking to advance her knowledge, she then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound with a focus on Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King’s College London in 2016.
Outside of her professional commitments, Daniela enjoys long walks, gardening, baking, and immersing herself in a good book. She also loves trekking whenever possible, having explored part of Mont Blanc, and she looks forward to future adventures there.

Having worked in the NHS for many years as a Radiographer and currently as a sonographer both in the Women’s Health and Radiology I have gained a vast experience in this role and have a passion in women’s wellbeing.
Having qualified in 2010 at Hertfordshire University with a First-class Honors as a Diagnostic radiographer, I then qualified with a PgD in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Ultrasound in 2016 at City University London.
In my current role I have been exposed to a range of Gynaecology and Obstetrics patients and I have a particular interest in Early pregnancy scans as well as looking at pathologies and chronic conditions such as Endometriosis and Fibroids, having done a dissertation on the treatment of Fibroids.
I have had the opportunity to lead in Gynaecology presentations and take great pride in my communication and patient focused care.
In my spare time I am a dedicated Mum, a keen traveler and an avid trekker having hiked Mount Everest Base Camp and other mountains and hiking trails around the world. I am enthusiastic about health, wellbeing and selfcare.
Daisy has 10 years of experience helping elderly women before moving to London in November 2020. Although working in gynaecology is new to Daisy, she is passionate about her role and being part of the London Gynaecology team where is dedicated to looking after patients and supporting women’s health.
In her spare time, Daisy is also a professional singer, singing at weddings. She enjoys walks and hikes with friends and has hiked one of the hardest mountains in Ireland called Croagh Patrick (4rth tallest mountain and an important site of Pilgrimage in Mayo Ireland). Daisy also likes travelling and loves animals.
Shauna has previously worked at a prestigious London private hospital where she gained much of her gynaecology experience from assisting consultants with different gynaecology procedures each day.
Shauna also has experience in the infertility field from working in Harley Street gaining great knowledge and understanding while supporting the wider nursing team, patients and consultants.
Shauna’s hobbies consist of travelling and seeing new sights, she also enjoys spending time with her loved ones and dog Lexi.
Pinar Tas is part of the nursing team, having previously worked at Islington GP federation within the community gynaecology as a healthcare assistant.
For the last 10 years, Pinar has also worked part time for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, doing telephone counselling sessions and non-clinical follow up with patients.
Sheridan is a Healthcare Assistant working in the nursing team having previously worked as a healthcare assistant at a London fertility clinic.
Sheridan is from Australia and has a qualification in Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse, Australia).
Tugce has 5 years of experience in health care as a HCA and is very passionate about her job and providing the best care possible to patients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her French bull dog and traveling.
Originally from Australia, Sonia moved to the UK 20 years ago and worked in a Private Hospital in London for 16 years where she gained gynaecology experience. She has a love of travelling and tries to visit as many places as she can, as well as taking her dog Freddie on adventures.
Emma has worked with London Gynaecology for many years and was responsible for developing the brand identity and very first London Gynaecology website in the very beginning. Today her role extends to running the entire business and marketing of the practice, ensuring that the business operates as smoothly and efficiently as the clinical side.
Emma has two young children who keep her busy when she’s not at working with the team at London Gynaecology.
Geoff originally joined London Gynaecology as a Business Advisor to work with the management team, advising on strategy, business development and operational detail. We’re pleased that he’s recently come on board full-time as our CEO to help lead the business.
As a scientist by training, he is a keen follower of scientific developments. He is has completed 11 Ironman triathlons, including the Ironman World Championships in Kona twice. He has two boys who also keep him on his toes.
Abby is our Admin Team Lead and ensures the clinic runs smoothly while providing support to the wider admin team of practice secretaries and students in addition to leading the HR across the company.
Abby joined the team in 2017 as our first ever student administrator then a Junior Medical Secretary, progressing to Medical Secretary and now HR and Admin Team Lead. In this past year, Abby completed her Masters in Human Resource Management and Organisational Analysis – she has a degree in Ancient History from UCL, and worked with us as an Admin Assistant during her third year of studies.
In her spare time, Abby enjoys playing netball, baking and travelling to and exploring different countries.
Nicola is an experienced operational manager with previous experience in leading Gynaecology and Maternity services in the NHS. She is a modern languages graduate from Oxford University, holds an MSc in Public Service Management, and is a CMI chartered manager.
Nicola has a keen interest in Public Health, reducing Health Inequalities, and improving organisational culture. In her spare time, she likes to row, play football and hockey, and enjoys reading. She also volunteers as a first aider for St John Ambulance.
Dawn is a medical secretary at London Gynaecology to Mr Saurabh Phadnis and is part of our dedicated administrative and secretarial team. She helps to provide a first-class service to all patients at every stage of the patient pathway.
Dawn joined the team in 2016 and has extensive experience spanning over the last 12 years working within busy private hospitals in London.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys travelling, cooking, baking and sitting down with a cup of tea while watching CSI.
Maria is part of the administrative team and ensures a smooth patient experience at London Gynaecology, Maria has worked in private healthcare since 2012 and has enjoyed various roles in mental health and elderly care.
As a part time psychology student, she enjoys weekends away, country walks as well as occasional baking for friends.
Elaine is a very experienced medical secretary whose career began in Glasgow in 1984 as a Junior Medical Secretary. She moved to London in 1988 to work at The Portland Hospital and over the years has worked for a number of consultants here. She is currently the PA for Miss Freeman-Wang, having worked together since 2014. In her spare time, Elaine likes to swim both indoors and outdoors, go to the gym, attend spinning and yoga classes and travel.
Jemma has a wealth of knowledge and experience in private practice having been lifelong Personal Assistant to Mr Anthony Silverstone and is responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of the practice and its patients to London Gynaecology.
Jemma prides herself in taking great care of patients, providing them with the utmost attention and support throughout their healthcare journey.
Outside of work, Jemma is a loving mother to two boys, and shares her home with an adorable dog. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in her passion for cooking.
Jaymini has over 10 years’ of experience in senior medical secretary / personal assistant positions in both NHS and private healthcare across Leicester, Leicestershire and London. She has worked in a variety of departments, including paediatric neurodevelopment, gastroenterology, and occupational health.
Jaymini loves to travel, visit the theatre, and has a passion for events, having worked in NGO, entertainment and music industries across Europe and the USA.
Lois joined our Patient Services Team in 2024. Prior to this, she held a variety of administrative and customer service roles, including volunteering for mental health charities, and is also a qualified teacher. As such, Lois is passionate about ensuring that all our patients’ needs are identified and met as part of the first-class service that we offer.
In her spare time, Lois is a keen artist and enjoys running and reading.
Joella joins London Gynaecology with previous experience working in healthcare, including at a fertility clinic, and is eager to provide the best service and ensure all our patients have a great experience when visiting our clinics. She also has a BA in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick and enjoys exercising, going to church, volunteering, and travelling in her spare time.
Andrea has a strong background in hospitality and customer facing roles where she gained her experience in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. She decided to shift into administrative roles where she knew she would be able to utilise her customer service experience. Having worked as a Ward Coordinator in a private healthcare setting for the last 2 years, she understands the importance of maintaining a professional and compassionate approach and giving patients the most comfortable experience possible.
Outside of work Andy loves listening to music, cooking and discovering new restaurants, being around friends, going to the gym and travelling to new places.
With over 20 years experience working in accountancy and finance across many sectors and industries, Kathy ensures that the accounts of London Gynaecology run as smoothly as the clinical experience.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoys arts and crafts as well as spending time with her two lovely dogs.
Dr Omar Shafi is a member of the clinical auditing team, playing a key role in the ongoing enhancement of services provided by London Gynaecology. He is presently enrolled on the Graduate Medicine Course at St George’s and read for his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCL. He has also collaborated on research projects with our very own consultants.
Outside of his professional commitments, Omar’s interests lie in martial arts and combat sports, with Taekwondo and Muay Thai being particular passions.
Aditi is a part of our admin team and is currently a medical student at UCL. She is hoping to do her intercalated BSc in Pharmacology next year. She has previously worked in GP and dental practices, as well as having experience in retail.
In her spare time, Aditi enjoys reading, music and swimming.
Isabelle is part of our admin team and is currently applying for Graduate Medicine programs after recently graduating from Edinburgh University in English Literature. She has spent time volunteering as a ward helper on Medical Assessment Units and has experience in many customer facing roles, from waitressing to bar tendering.
In her spare time, she enjoys climbing, yoga, and cold-water swimming.
Paul is a part of the student admin team, whilst studying for PhD in Paleontology at UCL. He has had years of customer service experience including working in the USA. He always makes sure every patient is in the best hands.
In his spare time Paul likes listening to music and solo-travel across Europe.
Achele is a part of our administrative team and is currently a Harvard Richardson Postgraduate Fellow working with the ‘HAPPINESS’ project to expand mental health care in Nigeria. She is hoping to study postgraduate medicine next year. She has previously worked in research.
In her spare time, Achele enjoys rugby, listening to podcasts, and visiting museums and the theatre.
Mirko is a medical student at Brunel who did his undergraduate at UCL and his Master’s at Imperial College. He likes to go to the gym, practice martial arts like Muay Thai, MMA and Taekwondo, and also play the drums.
Dowan is keen on providing the best care for all of London Gynaecology’s patients. He has had extensive experience in customer-facing roles including working in a primary school and multiple charities aimed at children with special-needs. As such, Dowan will ensure optimal patient care and attempt to answer all queries and worries which patients may have.
In his spare time, Dowan loves to read, watch films and compete in baseball and tennis matches.
Meagan joins London Gynaecology with previous experience as an administrator at a private clinic within The Portland Hospital and is currently pursuing a psychology degree at UCL. She has also contributed to youth mental health research, earning co-researcher credits in publications with King’s College London and Queen Mary University.
In her free time, Meagan loves baking and going on walks to explore London. She is passionate about connecting with people and helping others so is looking forward to her role within Patient Services.
Fin is a Chartered Management Accountant, working with the finance team to produce insightful financial reporting for the management team. He has a degree in Economics from Loughborough University and has previously worked as an accountant in the security industry for five years.
In his spare time, he is a keen footballer and cricketer, and enjoys going to see live music.
Kim has been a PR professional for over 20 years and has big brand experience spanning healthcare, parenting, interiors and technology, working both agency side and in house.
Now, as a mum of two boys, Kim is a PR consultant and helps London Gynaecology share its knowledge and expertise to a wider audience through media.
